What is the University Basketball League (UBL)?
The University Basketball League (UBL) is an elite national university basketball competition providing a pathway for male and female basketball athletes to study and play for their university. Launched in 2021, the UBL will enter its sixth year of competition in 2026 with twelve universities from across Australia set to compete for the title of University Basketball League Champion. UniSC is the only university in Queensland to compete in this league.
After a successful 2025 season with the women's team making the grand final for the first time, UniSC is eager to see what the 2026 season can bring with more outreach, more student work integrated learning opportunities and the appointment of Head Coach of the program Nathan Arousi. Every game of the 2026 UBL will be livestreamed, with games played mid-week and home games at UniSC Arena, UniSC Sunshine Coast, the season commences in week four of Trimester two (mid August) to week 10 before a three week final series.
How can I play in the UBL?
Students enrolled at the University of the Sunshine Coast can trial for the men's and women's teams. Trials are announced on our Instagram @uniscsportandfitness @uniscbasketball, or email @sport@usc.edu.au

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities for UniSC students
UniSC will ensure that the UBL program provides a university-wide, integrated learning experience with basketball and academic achievement valued equally. Where possible, UniSC will endeavour to provide opportunities for students in all functional roles within the UBL program. We are currently seeking expressions of interest for the following roles:
