Honorary Awards Committee Composition and Terms of Reference

Introduction

The Honorary Awards Committee is a committee of Council, which was established in accordance with Council’s delegated authority under the University of the Sunshine Coast Act 1998.

Composition

  • Chancellor, or their nominee (Chairperson)
  • Vice-Chancellor and President
  • A member of Executive, nominated by the Vice-Chancellor and President and appointed by Council.
  • Up to three members of Council.
  • The Chancellor, in consultation with the Vice-Chancellor and President, may co-opt up to two additional members, with full rights, for a specified period to facilitate succession planning and access to specific expertise.

In attendance (having participatory, but not voting, rights)

  • Director, Marking and Communications (where invited by the Chairperson) (HAC18/6)

Terms of Reference

The Honorary Awards Committee will seek and consider nominations for honorary awards and recommend to Council the conferral of honorary awards. [Honorary Awards - Governing Policy]

Membership term

The period of office of appointed members will be their term of office on Council. [Honorary Awards - Governing Policy, Section 6.3]

Quorum

Three members or more must be present for a meeting of the Honorary Awards Committee to be quorate. [Council 27.06.17]
