Build confidence, strengthen practice and create safer, more supportive environments
Delivering safe, person-centred care requires an understanding of how trauma influences behaviour, wellbeing and interactions.
Trauma-informed care is an increasingly important workforce capability. Developed by experts from the National PTSD Research Centre at UniSC's Thompson Institute, this interactive training provides practical skills to confidently apply trauma-informed principles in everyday professional settings.
Participants will gain practical skills to support trauma-informed practice across a range of professional settings.
Why trauma-informed care matters
Trauma can significantly affect how people think, feel, behave and engage with care providers, services, workplaces and relationships. Without trauma understanding, organisations or workers may unintentionally contribute to distress or re-traumatisation. Embedding trauma-informed principles helps create safer, more welcoming and more effective services.
Trauma-informed organisations are better equipped to:
- Improve client interactions and trust
- Reduce conflict and distress
- Enhance staff confidence and communication
- Support psychologically safe workplaces
- Improve service outcomes and client satisfaction
- Recognise and respond appropriately to trauma-related behaviours
- Reduce the risk of burnout and vicarious trauma within teams
