With our diverse expertise and state-of-the-art equipment, the Centre for Bioinnovation’s applied microbiology team is uniquely positioned to help you solve your most challenging problems. We can work with you to develop rapid-on-site testing for pathogens through to testing food microbiology. We accept human, animal, veterinary, agriculture, and environmental samples.

Infrastructure and equipment

The Centre for Bioinnovation’s Applied Microbiology team works across multiple locations including UniSC Sunshine Coast, the Sunshine Coast Health Institute, UniSC Moreton Bay, and in the field with industry. Across these sites, our state-of-the-art equipment includes the following. 

  • Microbial culture - Salmonella and Escherichia coli (E.coli)
  • Viral culture - Orthoflavivirus denguei (Dengue virus)
  • Epidemic polyarthritis - Ross River Virus
  • Digital Polymerase Chain Reaction (dPCR)
  • Real-time/quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR)
  • Portable real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR)
