Turn your VET or TAFE qualification into a UniSC degree

With your Vocational Education and Training Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma from TAFE Queensland or another registered training provider you could:

Ready to apply?

Completed certificate and diploma qualifications can be used to meet admission requirements for many UniSC undergraduate degrees.  

If you’ve completed an eligible qualification, you'll generally be assigned a selection rank based on your level of study. If your selection rank meets the entry requirements for your chosen degree, you may be offered a place at UniSC.

Make your previous study count

With a Certificate IV or Diploma, you may be eligible for up to one year of credit for your chosen degree.*  

Eligible qualifications are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Once you have applied, your credit will be determined by how closely your VET studies align with your chosen degree and available space in the program.

How to apply for credit

  1. Accept Offer: Wait until you receive and accept your UniSC program offer. 
  2. Apply Online: Log into your UniSC student account to submit the Credit Transfer Application
  3. Provide Documents: Upload your official TAFE academic transcript and Statement of Completion

Up to one year of credit (eight courses)

The following diplomas may provide credit equivalent to one year of full-time study (eight courses) towards your UniSC study in a relevant program*. 

  • Diploma of Music (Performance)
  • Diploma of Music (Sound)
  • Diploma of Nursing
  • Diploma of Applied Block Chain
  • Diploma of Information Technology

*96 units (8 courses) of credit, equivalent to one year of full-time study, depending on your individual study sequence and course selections.

Your diploma must have been completed within the last 10 years (or last 5 years if you are applying for Computer Science or Information and Communications Technology programs).  

Up to one year of credit, depending on your study choices

The following diplomas and/or advanced diplomas will provide credit equivalent to one year of full-time study (eight courses) into a relevant degree, depending on elective selection and UniSC major.* 

  • Diploma of Accounting
  • Diploma of Event Management
  • Diploma of Hospitality Management
  • Diploma of Human Resource Management
  • Diploma of Leadership and Management
  • Diploma of Marketing and Communications
  • Diploma of Project Management
  • Diploma of Social Media Marketing
  • Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management
  • Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management

*96 units (8 courses) of credit, equivalent to one year of full-time study, depending on your individual study sequence and course selections.

Your diploma must have been completed within the last 10 years.  

Up to six months credit (four courses)

The following diplomas and certificates may provide credit the equivalent of one trimester of full-time study (four courses) or more into a relevant degree, depending on the electives you choose.*

  • Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping
  • Certificate IV in Business
  • Certificate IV in Cyber Security
  • Certificate IV in Leadership and Management
  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Diploma of Mental Health
  • Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Diploma of Community Services
  • Diploma of Child, Youth and Family Intervention
  • Diploma of Visual Arts

*Four courses of credit, equivalent to one trimester of full-time study, depending on your individual study sequence and course selections.
