*Not offered until Trimester 1, 2028* This course examines language and literacy development from birth through age five. Students explore the foundations of oral language, phonological awareness, vocabulary, meaning-making, print concepts, and emergent writing, along with culturally and linguistically responsive practice. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based strategies, intentional read-alouds, play-based learning, and environments that support diverse learners, including dual language learners. Students apply developmentally appropriate methods for inquiry, assessment, and family partnership.
