Primary goals
- Identify environmentally and economically sound opportunities to reuse/recycle treated timber and Engineered Wood
Products (EWPs), to keep timber out of landfill. - Investigate opportunities to advance the circular economy, closing the loop on avoidable waste, creating new business
opportunities and conserving resources.
Key outcomes to date
- The launch of a Resource Map which will potentially help link solution providers with timber resources available by showing:
- The type, location, volume and condition of available end-of-life resources. The map currently contains data for:
• End-of-life vineyard posts
• Frame and truss offcuts
• Engineered wood by-products resources
• End-of-life utility poles - The location of solution providers, and where to find support and infrastructure, including:
• Renewable energy & EWP solutions
• Agricultural reuse, pyrolysis & composting/mulch
• Licensed landfills & transfer stations
• Solutions required
• Circular economy councils & hubs
- The type, location, volume and condition of available end-of-life resources. The map currently contains data for:
Progress
This project commenced in April 2023 and is set to finalise in April 2026.
