Eligibility

  • Pasifika and Māori* students enrolled in any  one year end-on Honours or HDR program at UniSC
  • Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Permanent Australian Humanitarian Visa holder or permanent resident of Australia

* Applications will be accepted from Pacific Islander persons who are from, or whose heritage is from, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Aotearoa NZ, Niue, Cook Islands, Tokelau, Tahiti, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Rotuma, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Nauru, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Kanaky New Caledonia, Kanaka Maoli Hawaii or West Papua and can provide compelling evidence of their South Pacific Islander status.

Selection criteria

  • other equity considerations as determined by UniSC
  • supporting statement outlining research, career and personal goals, and how the bursary will assist with UniSC studies

Value

Bursaries are valued at A$2,500 and will be paid as a lump sum payment after the applicable census date following eligibility checks.

Please provide one of the following documents (or similar):

• a letter from Medical Practitioner/Psychologist/Social Worker

• a letter of support from UniSC Student Wellbeing if currently supported by the team

• a statement from a family member or other member of the community (e.g., school staff member, counsellor, chaplain)

• a Centrelink statement showing a recent Crisis Payment

• a copy of a protection order/police report/court order

• a report showing you are or were in foster care or similar circumstances

Financial need

I authorise:

  • UniSC to use Centrelink Confirmation eServices to perform a Centrelink enquiry of my Centrelink Customer details and concession card status in order to enable the business to determine if I qualify for a concession, rebate or service;
  • Services Australia to provide the results of that enquiry to UniSC. 

I understand that:

  • Services Australia will use information I have provided to UniSC to confirm eligibility for a Scholarship and/or Bursary and will disclose to UniSC my personal information including my name, address, concession card status, payment type, payment status, income, assets, one-off payment, deduction and shared care arrangements.
  • this consent, once signed, remains valid while I am a student of UniSC unless I withdraw it by contacting UniSC or Services Australia;
  • I can obtain proof of my circumstances/details from Services Australia and provide it to UniSC so that my eligibility for a Scholarship and/or Bursary can be determined;
  • if I withdraw my consent or do not alternatively provide proof of my circumstances/details, I may not be eligible for a Scholarship and/or Bursary provided by UniSC.
  • I confirm that the electronic signature in this consent represents my signature.
  • I consent to signing the form electronically and I confirm that my signature is legally binding.

Please provide copies of 3 recent consecutive payslips.

Declaration

In submitting this application, I declare that the information supplied on this form is complete and correct to the best of my knowledge. If any of the information is found to be false or misleading, I accept that the University may cancel any scholarship or bursary that might be awarded to me on the basis of this application and I may be required to repay any monies so obtained.
