What is involved in the Initial Assessment

  • All clients must complete an initial consultation to access the service, ensuring exercise is safe and appropriate, and to establish goals.
  • The consultation is student-led and focuses on understanding your health, lifestyle, exercise history, goals, and any concerns.
  • This includes a review of your medical history and, where appropriate, physical assessments to inform a safe and individualised exercise program.
  • Health screening is conducted to identify any risks.
  • If required, medical clearance may be needed before progressing to higher-intensity exercise; until then, exercise will be kept at a lower intensity.
  • If your needs cannot be adequately supported within our service, we will direct you to a more suitable Exercise Physiology provider.

How do I register without a referral?

Please complete the registration form and a You, Me, UniSC clinic staff member will be in contact.

  • Up to three supervised group exercise sessions per week
  • Individualised progression with clinical oversight throughout the program

Who is the program for?

This program is suitable for any member of the community who has been diagnosed with an illness, chronic health condition, or injury. You do not need a UniSC gym membership or fitness passport to participate.

The program supports people looking to improve:

  • Balance and coordination
  • Muscular strength
  • Aerobic endurance
  • Overall health and wellbeing
How much does it cost?

The total cost for the full 12-week program is $249, which equates to approximately $5.20 per session.

Why is it a 12-week program?

Twelve weeks provides sufficient time to safely build exercise tolerance, progress strength and aerobic capacity, develop confidence, and establish long-term exercise habits. The goal is to support a healthy lifestyle adapted to your individual goals and needs.

What happens after the 12 weeks?

At the end of the program, you will receive guidance on transitioning to one of the following:

  • Independent exercise
  • A gym or community-based program
  • Ongoing Exercise Physiology support, if required

Clients may also choose to continue with the You, Me, UniSC Clinic in Semester 2, 2026.

Further information about this process will be provided in the coming weeks.

Where is the clinic?

All initial assessments and exercise sessions are delivered on Level 1 of the Tower (T-Block) at the UniSC Sunshine Coast Campus. The clinic space has recently been fully refurbished, with an updated layout and new equipment informed by client and student feedback from Semester 2, 2025.
