Running a successful small business means more than surviving tax time. The decisions you make about your business structure, cash flow, and compliance throughout the year influence your business's operations, growth and how prepared you are to meet your tax obligations.

This practical 2-hour workshop is designed to help Moreton Bay small business owners move beyond the basics and build a stronger, more tax-effective business for the long term.

Led by Dr Kirsty Redgen, this workshop will help you build smarter tax habits, reduce risk, and set your business up for sustainable growth.

  • Choosing the right business structure for growth, tax effectiveness and risk management
  • Managing cash flow, tax obligations, director loans and business debt throughout the year
  • Recent tax changes and what they mean for your business
  • Preparing for ATO scrutiny, compliance reviews and common tax risk areas
  • Building sustainable tax, bookkeeping and record-keeping habits
  • Navigating ATO systems and support services effectively

The workshop is practical and jargon-free, with examples drawn from real small business scenarios. There will also be time for your questions.

About the presenter

Dr Kirsty Redgen is an experienced Chartered Accountant and Certified Practicing Accountant, and Lecturer of Accounting at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

She has been coordinating and delivering accounting courses at the University of the Sunshine Coast since 2012. 

Kirsty brings a clear practical approach to tax education and has a track record of translating accounting concepts for non-specialist audiences.
