For adults diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
If you are aged between 60 and 85 years and have been diagnosed with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease, you may be eligible to take part in a new clinical trial. This trial is evaluating an investigational oral capsule for its potential to help manage symptoms of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers are exploring whether the treatment may support cognitive function and daily activities, which could help people maintain independence for longer.
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common neurodegenerative disorder, affecting nearly half a million Australians. It causes progressive memory loss, cognitive decline, and behavioural changes, eventually leading to a complete loss of independence. While current treatments may offer only short-term relief, the investigational capsule is being studied for its potential to support symptom management over time in people with Alzheimer’s disease.
We are seeking applications from people who:
- are aged 60-85
- are diagnosed with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease (stage 4 and 5)
- can move independently with or without a walking aide
- have a caregiver willing to commit approximately 10 hours a week to support their participation in the trial
- have a BMI between 18 to 40
Eligible participants will be reimbursed for their time on the trial.
To register your interest, please review the application form and complete your details.
This trial has been reviewed by an independent Human Research Ethics Committee.
What's involved?
This Phase 3 clinical trial is evaluating a twice-daily oral capsule for its potential to help slow the decline in cognitive abilities and daily functioning in people with Alzheimer’s disease. Participants will gradually increase their dose every week to reach the target dose. The study treatment lasts 24 weeks with a four-week follow-up period, and all participants may roll over into another 24-week treatment phase. There is a 50% chance of receiving either the investigational treatment or a placebo.
