We advance the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning research theme through evidence-informed, innovative, ethical and reflective approaches to curriculum design, teaching, learning and assessment.
Our research aims to enhance teaching quality and better support student engagement, wellbeing and outcomes in a rapidly changing higher education environment.
We bring together diverse disciplinary perspectives to generate and translate evidence that strengthens teaching and learning practice, professional learning, policy and institutional change.
Transforming student experience
We investigate contemporary and emerging challenges and opportunities in higher education. We focus on how curriculum design, teaching, learning and assessment can respond to the changing needs of students, educators and the sector.
Our research explores and tests the conditions that enable transformative student experiences.
Our research includes:
- First Nations knowledges and culturally responsive learning
- Learner-centred, inclusive and flexible education
- Curriculum design, constructive alignment and programmatic assessment
- AI-enabled, digital and evidence-informed learning
- Interactive and technology-enhanced learning
- Work-integrated learning, employability and future capabilities
- Educator capability, educational leadership and teaching excellence
- Evaluation of educational innovation and transformation.
Connect, collaborate and co-create
We value interdisciplinary connection, collaboration and the co-creation of knowledge that has a meaningful impact on curriculum and assessment, teaching practice, educator development and higher education policy.
Our research brings together educators, academics, higher degree research (HDR) students, professional staff and industry partners. Members use diverse pedagogical perspectives and qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research approaches to investigate teaching and learning in authentic higher education contexts.
By combining expertise, research methods, data and resources, we strengthen SoTL capability, foster collaboration and create opportunities for innovation, transformation and continuous improvement across UnisC and the higher education sector.
Our theme members are available to supervise higher degree by research (HDR) students.
