IDEAS is a UniSC initiative aimed at increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation in programs across all areas of study.
IDEAS offers Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples a direct entry pathway to undergraduate (non-Honours) programs at UniSC. We’ll consider your life experiences, study and employment history, community activities, and achievements before recommending you a pathway to study.
By applying, you may be eligible for:
- A place in the Tertiary Preparation Pathway, or
- Direct entry into an undergraduate program
To apply, you must:
- Be aged 17 years or over, and
- Not currently be enrolled in school
- As part of the application process, you may also need to provide evidence of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. UniSC’s Buranga Centre will contact you to provide further information and support if this is required.
How to apply
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | Complete the IDEAS application form, making sure to attach any required supporting documentation. If you’re still not sure about applying, you can contact the Buranga Centre for a consultation. |
| Step 2 | The UniSC Admissions team will assess your application for entry based on any qualifications you’ve earned, and make an offer if possible. |
| Step 3 | If your previous qualifications don’t qualify you for an offer, Admissions will connect you with the Buranga Centre to provide you with pathways advice and help you explore your options. |
Year 12 school leavers are not eligible for IDEAS and can apply for a program through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC).
IDEAS is not applicable to the following programs:
- Bachelor of Medical Science
- Bachelor of Midwifery
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy
Applicants for these programs should apply via the Indigenous Health Admissions Pathway (IHAP).
We look forward to your journey with UniSC!
