Joanne Lee holds dual degrees in nursing and education, combining expertise in both fields as a tutor, lecturer, and clinical facilitator at the University of Sunshine Coast since 2017. A nursing career that began in 1997 has equipped her with decades of clinical and educational experience across ICU, midwifery, and primary health nursing. Joanne has been actively involved in teaching subjects such as Health Care and the Professions, Preparation for Practice, Anatomy and Physiology, and Nursing Practice.
Joanne has been awarded an Associate Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), recognising her effectiveness and impact on improved outcomes for learners across the global community. She also holds a second AFHEA in Indigenous Knowledges, reflecting her commitment to culturally informed and inclusive educational practice. Joanne has completed a Master of Educational Neuroscience, which has deepened her understanding of the brain's role in learning and education. This advanced knowledge enhances her ability to design effective teaching strategies and support diverse learners. Joanne is dedicated to advancing the health profession through research and is co-lead in the newly established School of Health, Health Professions Education Research Cluster.
As an academic Joanne believes in the power of education and is passionate about fostering excellence in education, advancing knowledge through research, and building productive partnerships within the healthcare sector.
