Helen Hall

Helen Hall lectures in undergraduate psychology at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), within the School of Health. She joined UniSC casual teaching in 2020, following research assistant roles at UniSC in 2018 and 2019. Helen holds a Bachelor of Business Management and a Bachelor of Economics from The University of Queensland, and a Bachelor of Psychology (First Class Honours) from UniSC (2018). Prior to her academic work in psychology, she worked across non-profit and global development organisations in leadership, governance, and stakeholder engagement.

Helen submitted her PhD at UniSC in January 2026, investigating the effectiveness of an intervention program targeting adolescent perspective-taking to enhance social connectedness and prosocial tendencies. Her published work spans adolescent perspective-taking, adolescent loneliness, and parenting-related loneliness, with an overarching interest in mechanisms that foster social connection and wellbeing across development.

Since 2020, Helen has taught across undergraduate psychology and fourth-year honours coursework. In 2018, she was awarded the UniSC Chancellor’s Medal for outstanding contribution, alongside high academic achievement and service to the university and local community. In 2025, she received the School of Health Outstanding Learning and Teaching Casual Academic Award for embedding real-world clinical ethical issues into the applied teaching of ethical principles and professional guidelines.

A registered psychologist since 2023, Helen brings an applied, evidence-informed lens to her teaching and scholarship. Prior to her ongoing teaching role at UniSC, she partnered with parenting consultants and schools to support the translation of psychological research into accessible, evidence-based parenting education. She continues to volunteer her time in leadership and governance within a global development organisation.
