Dr Bricklyn Priebe, Associate Lecturer in Criminology and Justice, has expertise in the prevention of, and response to, child sexual abuse. Her research spans child sexual abuse prevention, safeguarding, early intervention, and responses to sexual offending, with a strong focus on translating research into practical improvements across prevention, justice, and service systems.

Bricklyn completed her PhD examining gender-responsive treatment for women convicted of child sexual abuse, with particular attention to treatment needs, program design, and system-level barriers across correctional and community-based responses. She continues to conduct research focused on improving prevention and intervention responses to abuse perpetrated by women and girls, an area that remains comparatively under-researched.

Bricklyn’s broader research includes child sexual abuse prevention and safeguarding within Early Childhood Education and Care settings. This work examines how evidence can inform practical strategies to strengthen child safety, build confidence in safeguarding, and improve institutional prevention and response.

Regarding teaching, Bricklyn has taught within the Bachelor of Criminology and Justice at UniSC since the program’s inauguration in 2015, contributing to a range of undergraduate courses across criminology and criminal justice. She is currently the Honours Program Coordinator for Criminology and Justice and supervises Honours and Higher Degree by Research students. Bricklyn is particularly committed to supporting students to develop their research skills and to connecting criminological research with contemporary issues in policy and practice.

Bricklyn is also a core member of UniSC’s Sexual Violence Research and Prevention Unit (SVRPU), while also working as the Unit’s Administration and Communications Officer. In this role, she contributes to research coordination, knowledge translation, stakeholder engagement, and the communication of research across a range of sexual violence prevention and response initiatives.
