Associate Professor Lex Thomson is an adjunct researcher in Pacific agroforestry and botany in UniSC’s Australian Centre for Pacific Islands Research. His research focuses on agriculture, forestry, agroforestry and botany, including Pacific Islands trade. Lex has specific expertise in sustainable management, production and marketing, research and development of forest and non-wood forest products, and has worked in 45 countries in these areas.
Since 2013, Lex has been an adviser to numerous conservation organisations and government departments of agriculture, fisheries, primary industries and agribusiness in Australia, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa and Vanuatu, reviewing and developing various conservation and agriculture / agroforestry projects and initiatives.
Through the projects Lex led or contributed to, he has collaborated with academic institutions and global food, agricultural, horticultural, forestry and conservation organisations. Lex is a dual citizen of Fiji and Australia.
