Renae Earle is a public health researcher and dietitian driven by her commitment to health equity and social justice. Working at the intersection of research, policy and practice, Renae aspires to strengthen the systems and environments that enable all people to realise their human right to health.

Renae understands that complex public health challenges require collaborative, co-ordinated solutions. She has contributed to the development and implementation of food security policy in Queensland, led statewide research monitoring the cost and affordability of diets, and established multi-sector partnerships to address the structural determinants of health.

Renae is an early career researcher focussed on food security, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community health, young people, rural and remote settings and policy. Ethical engagement, partnership, equity, reflexivity and evidence translation are the cornerstones of her constructivist research approach. Renae's doctoral research entitled ‘Supporting nutrition through community strengths: An exploration of co-design and empowerment with rural Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adolescents’ was undertaken through a partnership between The University of Queensland, a Queensland Government agency and an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled health service. Her PhD integrated empowerment theory, implementation science and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research frameworks to co-design, implement and evaluate a health promotion initiative focused on adolescent nutrition and social and emotional wellbeing.

As an educator, Renae brings almost a decade of formal and informal teaching experience. Her teaching philosophy is shaped by her own leaning journey and professional experiences and grounded in the social justice values that drew her to public health. She adopts a transformative approach to learning, encouraging students to critically examine the systems that shape health, engage with diverse knowledge systems, and develop the confidence to become thoughtful and reflective practitioners. She is passionate about preparing the next generation of public health professionals to tackle the challenges of health equity in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world.
