Dr Suzanne Volejnikova-Wenger is a Registered Nurse (RN) academic with varied professional practice experience in Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Australia. As a lecturer in the Bachelor of Nursing Science program at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), the primary focus of her work involves developing and providing quality education.

Suzanne also serves as a Chaplain for Lutheran Services’ retirement village residents and collaborates to employ creative solutions to enable and support older adults across the ageing continuum, to remain living independently and safely in the community.

In addition to coordinating and teaching first-year nursing courses with a focus on professional issues, healthy ageing and care of the older person, Suzanne is committed to collaborative research and the application of evidence. She is dedicated to meet the increased need for advancing nursing workforce development through education and promoting the delivery of high-quality, contemporary, holistic care that recognises the importance of spiritual wellbeing. 

Suzanne's research interests encompass the preparation of nurses and use of technology in education, professional wisdom and innovative models of care and collaborative practice to support and improve healthy ageing of individuals and communities.  Her Honours research explored student nurses’ experience using a serious game to learn environmental hazard and safety assessment and her PhD investigated how student nurses develop professional wisdom to form decision making in clinical practice, presenting a contemporary theory that explains the development of professional wisdom in nursing.
