Dr Sandra Sharp is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing and has more than 25 years of experience in clinical, leadership and education experience both in the UK and Australia.  Her clinical background is in intensive care, coronary care, and acute medicine.
Sandra’s PhD examined the barriers and facilitators of person-centred care in an acute setting. This critical ethnography found strong leadership and nurse’ intrinsic values were enablers of person-centred care. Notably it identified the significant challenges posed by task focused cultures, prevalent in contemporary healthcare, which can hinder person-centred practice.

Sandra recently returned to Australia having worked with Edinburgh Napier University as programme coordinator for a BSc Nursing programme delivered in Singapore under a flying faculty model. Consequently, she has developed extensive experience of transnational education and is committed to empowering nurses everywhere to develop their professional practice. Her teaching/educational interests are in practice development, leadership development, clinical decision making, and authentic assessment.
