Dr Jason Martin is a Lecturer in Clinical Exercise Physiology at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) and an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP). Jason's research focuses on exercise oncology, with a particular interest in developing and evaluating exercise interventions that improve quality of life and supportive care outcomes for people affected by cancer.

His research spans exercise oncology, neuro-oncology, and symptom management, with a strong emphasis on translating evidence into clinically meaningful models of care. His work has investigated the role of exercise in managing sleep disturbance, physical function, fatigue, and psychosocial wellbeing in people with primary brain cancer and their caregivers. His PhD examined exercise as a non-pharmacological intervention for sleep disturbance in adults with primary brain tumours, culminating in the development and evaluation of the Sleep-EX telehealth exercise intervention.

In addition to intervention research, Jason has expertise in systematic reviews, clinical trials, implementation research, patient-reported outcomes, and mixed-methods research. His work seeks to identify safe, feasible, and effective approaches to integrating exercise into routine cancer care, while addressing barriers to participation and improving access to supportive care services.

Jason collaborates with clinicians, researchers, and consumer organisations across Australia to advance exercise oncology research and improve outcomes for people living with and beyond cancer. He is particularly interested in multidisciplinary models of care, telehealth delivery, implementation science, and expanding access to evidence-based exercise services for underserved cancer populations.
