Terms and Conditions of the 'Moreton Bay Eco Fest' competition.
General
1. The University of the Sunshine Coast ABN 28 441 859 157 (UniSC) is the Promoter of this competition.
2. Entry into the Competition will be deemed as acceptance of the following Terms and Conditions.
3. The competition is not open to staff of UniSC.
4. All eligible entrants go into a draw to win an opportunity to privately meet with Dr Karl Kruszelnicki AM and his team for 10 minutes at Moreton Bay Eco Fest at UniSC Moreton Bay campus on Sunday 9 November 2025. (The Prize”) Winning participants may bring up to five family members with them, subject to availability of space.
5. The Prize does not include any travel or accommodation costs which remain the responsibility of the winner.
6. The timing and circumstances of any private meeting (including permission for any photographs) will always be at the absolute discretion of Dr Karl and his team.
7. The Promoter reserves the right at any time to cancel the competition or to change these Terms and Conditions. Any changes to, or cancellation of, the Competition will be posted on the Promoter’s website (www.usc.edu.au).
Entry and Draw
8. The Competition opens at 12.01am AEST Monday 13 October and closes at 11pm AEST Sunday 2 November 2025 (closing date). No entries will be accepted for the draw after the closing date.
9. Entry into the draw is by completing and completing and submitting an approved entry form before the closing date at the following link: www.usc.edu.au/moreton-bay-eco-fest
10. There is no fee to enter the Competition but only one entry per person will be accepted.
11. The Promoter is not required to accept all entries submitted and may choose to not accept any entry or entries at its absolute discretion.
12. No responsibility is taken by the Promoter for late, lost or misdirected entries.
13. The winner of the competition will be decided by a random draw which will take place on Tuesday 4 November 2025. The winner will be notified by email to the address provided on the entry form, on that date or as close as possible thereafter.
14. The Prize cannot be exchanged and is non-transferable.
Cancellation or Amendment
15. Because the timing and circumstances of any private meeting will always be at the absolute discretion of Dr Karl and his team the Promoter is not responsible for the cancellation, delay, variation to the length of time or the rescheduling of the proposed meeting with Dr Karl.
16. Any costs incurred by the winning individuals as a result of late cancellation, delay or rescheduling (including any travel or accommodation costs) remain the responsibility of the winning individuals.
17. The Promoter makes no representations about the safety, conduct or conditions associated with the Prize.
18. The Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Competition, more particularly if required by any circumstances outside of its control.
19. In determining any dispute regarding the conduct or results of the Competition, or any other matter relating to the Competition, the decision of the Promoter shall be final.
20. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland.
Privacy Notice
21. The Promoter may use any personal information that an entrant provides with their entry for the purposes of the Competition, and for marketing purposes including the distribution of regular email updates or newsletters.
22. Any personal information relating to entrants will be used in compliance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld), and as per the Promoter’s Privacy Management Procedures.
23. The Promoter may use, reproduce and disclose photographs of winning entrants for use in promotional and marketing materials, publications and/or on its website and other social media platforms. Entrants acknowledge and accept that they are not entitled to any payment for the Promoter’s use of their image.
24. The Promoter may, but is not obliged, to publish the results of the Competition. Unless otherwise advised by the participant, by entering this Competition, participants agree to the Promoter publishing their name and image as a Prize winner on the UniSC website (www.usc.edu.au).
Winning Entry / Liability and Indemnity
25. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including for negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage to property (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Competition, including, but not limited the meeting with Dr Karl Kruszelnicki AM and his team at Moreton Bay Eco Fest at UniSC Moreton Bay campus on Sunday 9 November 2025.
26. Each participant indemnifies and keeps indemnified the Promoter against all claims, losses, damages and expenses suffered by the Promoter or any third parties arising out of the breach of these Terms and Conditions by the participant, the conduct of the participant in the Competition or the Prize.
