Previously we’ve crammed a lot of action into a short amount of time – we’re talking, sports, travel, adventure, tech and tourism.
- This year, we’re mixing it up to give YOU more options – you can pick an area you’re interested in and we’ll give you a taste of what it’s like studying that at UniSC.
- If you’ve got more than one love, or you can’t decide (yeah, we totally get that!), you can enter more than one area.
Choose your own adventure.
Talk sports
Friday 1 May
But with more sport, less talk.
We’ve lined up a specialised tour of our Sunshine Coast high-performance sport facilities – where our students learn alongside top athletes who use our facilities to train in preparation for the competing on the world stage.

With a morning like that, you’re sure to work up an appetite – we’ve got you covered: we’re sending you to lunch with the Lightning so you can ask all your questions from netballers at the top of their game.

The jewel in the crown – behind-the-scenes passes at Suncorp Stadium to learn about how we partner with the Dolphins before watching them smash play the Storm.

And, you'll also hear from our expert teaching staff - former elite athletes themselves.
What can we say – we’ve got friends in sporty places.

Science and tech
Monday 8 June
We don’t just want to show you science and tech – we want you to experience it!
You won’t just be watching – you’ll build. We’ve organised for you to make a working machine in our engineering labs.

You’ll handle tech too – learning about our robodogs. We use these as part of our tech-focussed degrees, students coding and learning to control them remotely. You’ll get your turn too – let’s see how you go around an obstacle course.

Did we mention we’ve got a megadrone for you! It’s exactly what it says on the box – a damn big drone. We’ll show you how it works and what it can be used for.

We’ve got canoeing – our science happens outside (not all the time but we take the opportunity when we can). In this case, on the water. We’re talking water testing, oyster reefs and locating hard-to-find creatures.
Explore K’gari
Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June
Lock in for adventure – this isn’t just about exploring the world’s largest sand island with guides and experts full of interesting pieces of information you may have never heard before.
You’ll kayak across the waterways at the launch pad to K’gari – Inskip Point, learning about this unique and sought-after natural icon.

We’ll explore the stunning, world heritage-listed subtropical rainforest in Pile Valley. Think not just big trees – massive! They’re some of the tallest to grow in sand!

With a day like that, it’s going to be too late to get back home so we’re staying overnight at the K’gari Research Station – where our students and researchers stay when they’re investigating some of the most pressing issues facing this magnificent area of the world.
Get a good rest because in the morning we’re going to the beach for sunrise (spoiler alert: it’s stunning)!

Want to get a feel for what to expect?
Check out what we did on previous trips...
It's a real-life UniSC student experience!
At UniSC students get to complete work integrated learning (WIL) as a part of almost every degree we offer. In 2025, more than 500 of our students will go on field trips to K’gari, the world’s largest sand island.
We also have some amazing partnerships such as the Dolphins NRL Team and the Sunshine Coast Lightning Suncorp Super Netball league Team where there are opportunities for students to complete placements.
